6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Houge Park Studio
We will meet again tonight, but I would like to start at 6:30. No worries if you can’t get there until 7 or later.
No need to prepare anything. See you there.
Our next meeting is Tuesday evening, from 7 to 9. We will also meet on Thursday at the same time. I am hoping to cast the play by Friday.
Note: I would like to hear from those families who are not planning to participate this summer, and I would like to know who is coming on Tuesday but could not make it on Saturday.
As I mentioned on Saturday, the cast will consist of about 25 people. About 10 places are reserved for ensemble players, and the rest are the named characters. I plan to cast some younger members of the group (11-13 age range) in the ensemble.
Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow night.
We will meet this Saturday at 11, as planned. Everyone is welcome! See below for more details.
Follow-up readings will be held on Tuesday and Thursday, next week, from 7 to 9 p.m. (June 11th and 13th).
I am hoping to cast the play by June 14th.
Here’s a quick update about our plans for the summer.
The first reading for The Merchant of Venice will be on Saturday, June 8th at 11 a.m. This production is open to some of our alumni and will have a cast of only about 25. Most of the younger members of the group will not be cast but are welcome to come to the readings. The performance dates are August 8th to 11th. There will be a minimum of two rehearsals per week in June and July (Saturday and at least one weekday evening).
We will be using the Arden Shakespeare 2nd edition (green cover), not the Pelican paperback, for this production. I have 25 copies on order and will bring them to the reading.
We are talking to Scott Handy about a return visit, probably in late July. He will work with the Merchant cast but is also interested in seeing some scenes from R&J if we can revive them. Like last year, there will be opportunities for everyone in the group to meet him.
Hope to see you all on the 8th!
