Devised and directed by Audrey Rumsby, Youth Shakespeare San Jose presents an ensemble piece that features some of Shakespeare’s best-known scenes and speeches, taken from a cross-section of his greatest plays. Featured works include King Lear, Othello, Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, Julius Caesar, Antony & Cleopatra, Richard II, Richard III, Henry IV Part 1, Henry V, King John, The Merchant of Venice, As You Like It, and Twelfth Night. The action is interspersed with sonnets, songs, and readings of letters written to and from William Shakespeare, all performed by members of the company.

“I like being part of Youth Shakespeare, because it is fun acting, and it is my first time learning about Shakespeare.”
San Jose Youth Shakespeare is a theatre company for young people who are interested in performing full-length productions of Shakespeare’s plays. At 7 years old, Nolan Colton is this show’s youngest cast member. He plays Fleance, Banquo’s son. When not acting, Nolan enjoys playing table tennis and basketball, and going on nature hikes. Our oldest Macbeth players are 18 years old.

Some of the younger and newer cast members showed great chops and charm.
We made room for five of our Sunday ticket holders, freeing up their seats for Sunday.

We do hold a few seats for door purchase for every performance.
This blogger did took advantage of this, 6:20PM for the 7:00PM show, finding tickets for himself and two young attendees who enjoyed the show and their intermission snacks.
